I don't know that much about engines but cranks don't usually break on a whim. All i can think of is that that particular crank had a bad spot in it, not balanced properly, or a leprechan jumped in there and beat it with a hammer. Thats BS that they would try to put a used motor in a brand new car. I feel for ya man, good luck.
