Probably so they could use them on the 1LE concept.

Yes, I would expect that the black rims will be available for ordering on other Camaros, while the polished rims will be available as an option only on the ZL1.

I'm interested in the black wheels if no one keeps them on their ZL1, or else I'll wait for reproductions or possibly order from GMpartsdirect or something if possible.

Here are the "standard" ZL1 10 spoke black wheels, the optional 5 spoke bright wheels, and the 5 spoke black & bright version shown on the Carbon Concept at SEMA.

Like the OP and a few others here, I'm interested in picking up a take off set as well.

I know there's going to be quite a few people who already have or want to put their own wheels on their ZL1.

No rush for me though....adding a stereo this Christmas I'll have to pay for first.

If you look real close at pictures 2 & 3, you can catch a glimpse of the "Camaro" cut into the edge of the rim in between the spokes.

Here is a larger picture of the optional polished 5 spoke wheel. Only the flat facets and the edge of the rim are polished, the rest of the rim is unpolished silver.

I picked the 10 spoke, and I like them for the ashen grey color, still not sure how that is going to look as my dealer told me that the ashen color is the same color as the 45th edition which I like.

This is gonna be a shocker, but

Ashen Gray is just that, gray. The 45th is a metallic black color called Carbon Flash (which is the color of the plastic interior door and dash insert of the ZL1 coincidentally).

This is Ashen Gray

This is the 45th with Carbon Flash

Have you seen the 2012 brochure. It says to only use GM approved wheels. I have never seen that before. I am sure it is because the wheels are forged.

I think many pieces of GM literature says that. Stands to reason...protection and self-promotion.
