Arrow Calling all owners with Long Tube Headers

I need everyone that has longtube headers installed WITHOUT a tune to tell me what company you went with and exactly what you had installed.

The main reason I am doing this is to look for any company's headers that isn't throwing any type of engine code.

Right now I have SLP's Long tube headers, crossover pipe and loudmouth II exhaust and I am getting the engine code. Thanks everyone for the help and maybe we can find a solution to this ordeal.

See my sig for what I have installed. I threw a code after a few weeks.

I don't think you will get the result you are looking for (finding a company whose long tubes don't throw an engine code). The fact that they are long tubes means that the cats are moved further downstream, which means it takes longer for them to heat up and more likely to fail the cat testing sequence the ecm performs, making all manufacturers susceptible.

I could be wrong though, either way, good thread.

Forgot I asked for a response like that....

I am working very hard with my dealer to try to find a solution, yes there is a way around it and we are looking for it. It has nothing to do with being cheap, so if you have any ideas that will actually help what I'm looking for please let me know.

You can try some O2 foolers extenders...but hi flow cat or test pipes dont matter...fact is as soon as your ecu will ask for an exhaust carbon dyoxide sample youll be out of luck!!!

The tune will turn off the O2 system...that way youll be sure to eliminate any chance of check engine appearing!

A tuner may ask you 50$ to remove it via efi live

You may want to take a look at installing some shorties instead of LTs IMO ... You may loose a few HP and TQ, but you won't have to deal with any codes and will still flow very well!

I installed Kooks 1 7/8 catted long tubes and ran them for two months without ever throwing a code. I now have a Vector tune though only because I wanted that extra horsepower.

I installed the kooks 1 7/8 headers and there cats. I also have the LM II mufflers and I have not seen any code come up. I did install the diablo 93 custom tune for now and still no code. When I get my supercharger put on I will get a better tune.

Your on a wild goose chase. Any brand LT header will eventually set codes. The cats are now too far away from the engine to work within every single efficiency parameter in the OE calibration.

Due to varying driving conditions, some may set codes in 2 days, some maybe 2 months, maybe 6 months... But no way will aftermarket cats, set this far away from the engine never set a code.

The OE cal is set to precisely monitor the cat efficiency when it is way up next to the engine. You bought SLP stuff, give them a call. You will hear the words - tuning device.

all long tubes with cats will set codes,,

you are removing 4 very efficient(but low flow) cats and replacing them with 2 high flow cats(with lower efficiency), and you are moving the cats farther down the exhaust system and that also makes them less efficient.

also you are moving the front o2 sensors farther down the exhaust stream and this doesnt allow the sensor to be in the same area of the exhaust as stock, as a result you will get the cat efficiency codes and sometimes the front o2 slow responce codes.
