All I can say is Exxon/Mobil must have paid GM alot of cake. That Mobil 1 sticker on my filler cap bugs the crap out of me. I've sold, used, and believed in AMSOIL for over 15 years. You will NEVER go wrong with their products and they are the only company that posts the names of the products they test against in the report. Not brand X or brand Y. I am an independent shop owner and can sell whatever brands I want. AMSOIL is now Dexos 1 approved. Just for kicks I read all the Mobil 1 bottles at Wally mart one visit and couldn't find one that had Dexos...old stock?

Just my 1.6 cents worth.

Not all of Amsoil...only the OE and XL line are dexos 1 approved right now. Their traditional 100% synthetics are not.

Yup...old stock. New stuff will be on shelves soon. Look at their website...they show the dexos approval.

So is the "old stock" dexos approved? I bought 2 gallons of mobile1 5w-30 syn for 20 bucks on sale but didnt see the dexos approval on the jugs. Is it ok to put in?

Yes, you will be fine. According to Mobil, they did not have to change their formula whatsoever for the new dexos cert...they already met it and just got the cert. Are they being truthful? I don't know, but the old stock Mobil is an outstanding oil either way, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Man 'o man! GM has to back their engines for 100,000 miles. If their PHDs say to run Mobil 1 (or any oil that meets their standard GM4718M for the LS3) then run that oil! I would stick with the OE oil filter too. (AC Delco PF48)

If Mobil 1 did not have to change the formulation to meet the dexos spec., I suspect that the other fully synthetic oils that meet the GM 4718M spec will also meet the dexos spec., but the manufacturers just do not want to pay the royalties to GM to be certified.
I am going to continue to use Valvoline Synpower. If GM does not warranty your engine for 100,000 miles, Valvoline will warranty it for 300,000 miles.

Question to anyone: would a dealer say anything to you while changing your oil about having a CAI and it voiding ur warranty. If so how can you respond.

They won't say anything for a routine oil change.

Remember: putting something on your car doesn't void your warranty, a GM-certified service center voids your warranty -- and they need to prove the part broke something to do so. But CAI are small fish, anyways.

In short: don't worry about it.
