Header install question
Putting headers on the car Stainless Works brand and they send Aluminumi RTV. It says to coat both sides of the manifold gaskets. I'm having my doubts about this advise please.

Use only the OEM GM gaskets. Just go buy some from your local dealer.

NOOOO no goop needed bud, just install the GM gaskets and your old bolts and torque them down. No locktite of any kind either on the bolts.

I would never put sealent on the heads instead of the gaskets. From a header manufacturer stand point, it is cheaper to stock tubes of sealent than a bunch of different gaskets. Honestly, just reuse your stock ones and you should be fine. If you want new OEM ones, they do not cost much either...we sell them on the site.

I didn't use the goop, pass on the bolts they send too. The OEM hardware is better than aftermarket here . I installed SW myself, and I love the headers, but the hardware isn't as good as OEM. Good choice on headers!

+1, used stock gasket with Doug Thorley LT's and used NO sealant, drove 160 miles, no leaks whatsoever.

Make sure you re-torque them after several heat cycles.
