Need to adjust your mirrors where your car is barely visible or even just out of view should cover you.

On the way to work I come across an intersection just like what the OP is talking about. I make a left turn onto a road that's a 45 degree angle from what I'm on instead of the full 90, and that completely obscures the traffic that's coming from the right. That traffic doesn't have to stop or yield for traffic from my street. I can't see it by leaning, and I can't see it in my mirrors (which are tilted way out to cover the usual blind spot).
The only way I can see traffic coming from the right at that intersection is to turn my entire car as I'm coming up to the stop so it's less of an angle and I can see out the passenger window.

I know exactly what you mean, a lot of intersections on the back roads are angled like that around here, it made me nervous the first couple times. Now I pull up to the intersection and T myself off to the road I'm pulling on to. May look like a jackass doing it but at least I can see.

Haha well I was reading SkyMall the other day on a plane and as some of you may know they of course have a solution to everything...
Their solution to blind spots is a rather redneck invention that involves attaching a larger rearview mirror to your existing one that is about as long as a yard stick...But don't worry about it looking tacky because "it's what all the race car drivers use to eliminate blind spots and have a 180 degree field of vision".. HAHAHAHAHA

The "blind spots" are part of what makes this car special, imo. I've driven worse, and I'm still here. I think drivers, as a whole, are too spoiled nowadays...some cars didn't even have passenger side-view mirrors way back when!!
It's not so much "blind" as it is limiting, again imo...just takes some getting used to. |

Every coupe I've owned had bad C-Pillar blindness. I just set my mirrors out further and use caution when merging.

I have been using this adjustment method for years. it takes a little time to get used to, but once you do it, you will wonder how you got by with out it.
Take a look and try it out, see if it helps... http://www.linquist.net/motorsports/...mirrors?page=1 http://www.drivesmartbc.ca/driver-tr...t-your-mirrors http://www.popularmechanics.com/auto...o/4234574.html V/R, Nick

Same as me--I can barely see my car at all in the mirrors, just the very edge.

Have a passenger look out the window is the only effective thing that I've found besides those goofy mirrors that ruin your flow. I guess just go for it? I know we'd all hate to crash into anyone, but if the person is being a responsible driver, they won't drive in a probably blind spot and they'll honk when you blinker. So blinker, and if the other driver is a good enough driver, and if not, then I guess a body shop will have some more business, and hopefully no lawyers will get business, and no doctors will, either.

Just making sure I understand this: for you, the blind spots are a positive aspect of the car?

Quote:
1) what if you have no passenger? Probably 80% of my daily driving is the work commute and possibly an errand or two on the way home. No passengers. 2) Just turn on your right blinker and pull over, assuming the other driver will move if he's in your path? This is just bad driving... For one thing, the driver in the lane to the right of you in your blind spot may be unable to safely avoid you, whether he's a good driver or not - he may be blocked in from behind or to his right. 3) Besides body shop, lawyers, and doctors, you omitted morticians. Hopefully, you were just trying to add humor to this thread!

no need for additional mirrors/blind spot mirrors - just be mindful when merging. I had 4th generation and with huge hatchback rear window I never had a problem. Then I started driving a delivery van for work - really hard to switch when you have no windows and only normal mirrors - but you get used to it really quick. Worse case, if after a couple months you donīt get used to it, buy the weird looking mirrors...even if they look stupid, better than causing an accident.
