There are always trade offs guys.

You can "FORCE" the car to do more then it was designed to do....but do you really want to?

The engine and the transmission (auto) are in comunication....if the engine is putting out too much for tolerances...the trany will "ask" to ease up the timing...and does..then goes back to full out. that's for preservation.

Example: you Wife or girlfriend is in the pool...you are out of the pool.
She asks you to give her a hand out of the water.
do you snatch her out so hard and fast that it pulls her arm out of socket or off completely.....
Just because you can...should you?

(no...you want to be able to have a civil evening and continue to enjoy her company)

same with the car.
Yeah, but that's all part of knowing how to drive it properly and understanding what it can and can't do. I could babble on about when you have a manual transmission that YOU (rather than just the trans) are in communication with the engine. But that'd be too easy. Wheel hop has been toned down according to reports and it was only an issue during high rpm launches. The car also has launch control so those should both be less of an issue this time around. Just saying.

And that was a really off-the-wall out-of-your-ass analogy. I always said you were crazy, Mr. 600hp GTO.

For me it has to be an automatic tranny. Being a paraplegic, I have to use hand controls and they dont make them for use with a manual. If they did, I would need more hands to shift and drive.

I have the tap shift on my BMW and its fun to use, but usually leave it in "D". Not sure if the camaro tap shift will be as crisp as the BMW, but will give me something to play around with anyways. Maybe I cant use a manual, but just happy I can at least still drive!

I may be way off on this, but I've heard BMW sources some of their transmissions from GM. I read it in a car magazine. I'm pretty sure it was a 6 cylinder BMW though so if you have a 3 series it could be the same trans with different programming. That may be from an older one though.

I actually drive a 2007 BMW X5, V8 with 320 hp. Its an extremely heavy SUV, but can feel the power even pushing around 5000lbs. BMW calls it a tiptronic shift automatic. (6 speed tranny).

With over 1K less weight and a 400hp V8, the camaro will definately be the fastest car that I have driven. (Owner of a 78 and 83 camaro)

Here in Hawaii, they closed the race track, so I wont be doing any racing, but just enjoy the pure burst of speed from a dead stop! I think the camaro will take care of that itch for me.

No you're not, they do... Or at least they did. But I have no idea in what models or which transmissions...

I was at a GM drag event last Saturday. Here is a vid and the stats.

The 2010 will hook up better as the rear wheel and tire package will put down substantially more rubber.
