I don't see why they haven't been. Are those Mod' Motors not strong enough? GM was the first to say that the thin walls in the LS7 were too thin for FI so they went with lower displacement and thicker walls - no biggie.

How do you judge the makeup of a block off of pictures?

if you look closely you will see the specs on the side of the block

"5.4L 4V DOHC EFI S/C ALUM V8"

off topic, but...
SSNIGHTMARE - i like that avatar. when i was little, we had a big JD tractor & i'd always try to figure out how somebody could wrap around the PTO shaft that many times.

on-topic...
finally ford figured out that aluminum blocks tend to be better suited for performance applications than iron

It would probably knock 100 lbs max off if all they changed was the alum. block, but 100 off the front of it would do wonders for its poor handling.

It may also explain it's 5k plus price jump for this year. What's up with the large price increase? They must have done something special to justify it. I also don't understand why there are no official engine shots seeing the cars will be at the dealers this spring. Is the one being sold at Barret Jackson the actual car or just a pre-pro. representation.

i noticed nothing different about the block on the one that was here in the valley.

i was going to take a closer look at it tonight, but the hood was closed most of the night.

great interior though

........because the current one is so easily dismissed....I wish i could be so indifferent about 500HP cars, flaws and all,i would't shrug off a '07-09 GT500.........anyways............................. ..............Ford confirms it's an iron block. Whew,i'm glad i don't have to take it seriously,i'll go back to daydreaming about a Nissan Cube.......
