416ci single turbo, What size?
As of now I have an ls3 with the turbonetics kit, I was pondering replacing the rods and pistons when I add a jre cam but was thinking of maybe just hopping to the 416 stroker kit. Obviously the 68mm turbine wheel couldn't handle the cubic inches so I was think of running a mid frame style turbine housing turbo from turbonetics but this limits me to 78mm compressor and 75mm turbine wheel, this would probably be on the small side again. What size turbo would be suitable for a 416 single setup? This will help me determine other changes that would need to take place and help me decide if I even want to got this route.

T6 is the best bet. The problem is where to fit it. Precision makes a PT8847. .96 T4, 88mm compressor, and 84mm turbine.

If you go single and you don't want to have backpressure limitations, you have to go T6. BW S480 is prefect. But then how do you fit it, and how do you run a large enough single exhaust pipe out (4" minimum). I think twins are the way to go, especially on these cars. Easy to fit a pair of 700hp turbos in the right locations and right plumbing. Having the turbos mounted without the long u-turn piping you currently have, would spool much faster too. My pair of 56mm turbos with 61mm turbines, gets full boost about 3000rpm in the mid gears and can support ~1000whp.

Jordan just stick with the 376... Also there are companies that produce turbos that have better suited turbines and exhaust housings than turbonetics. Either way adding 40 more cubes doesn't help in finding a turbo that will fit.

Took the words out of my mouth, after reading the first few posts I will for sure stay with what I have. Like others mentioned I was going to maybe try a midframe since the downpipe is only I believe a half inch or inch bigger. Ill stay with what I have and just add a cam and maybe max out boost at 9-10 psi and call it good for REAL. I'm going to start saving my money for a diesel pickup, make twice the power as my car literally for half the money. I am more of a truck guy too but love fast cars still. Thanks everyone for the input.

Wow..twice the power for 1/2 the money? I'd like to hear how you plan on accomplishing that.

Maybe read on threads about MightyMouse's car, Dave Childress. If memory serves he's run a single T4 88mm and maybe then a T4 91mm. Went 8.4's I think.
We've run twin 76 T4's to 7.4@195, and most recently 4.75@160 in the 1/8th. On an LS 427. If you are just sourcing turbos that fit your existing kit I'd for sure look at an 88mm turbo.

http://www.hsperformance.com/ford-6-...-dyno-results/ All you need is 1000 tuner, 500 exhaust, 400 intake and there you have it. About a 1/5 what I have spent and about a 1/100 what others have. 582 & 1287 (mustang dyno) at the wheels with roughly a 12''-15'' lift on 40's. My brother has the same setup, (but on 35's) Powerstroke (international) power leaves your D-max behind. |

Get yourself a Comp 80/70 with Triple BB , Billet compressor wheel and the new Stainless turbine housing.
Compared to the Garrett GT76
