reducing the weight on your car

Basically my ss 2 with an automatic transmission is getting beat by corvettes. I know the power to weight ratio for our vehicles is different in comparison to the vette. My car has suffered some damage to the front bumper in a parking lot by another driver and I dinged the front by accidentally hitting a pillar, so I am considering a body kit for my car and maybe some new rims. Do any of you know some good kits that weigh less than stock parts and some light rims?

Get rid of the stock exhaust, that's a easy weight reduction. Either way you won't look at getting this piggy anywhere near the weight of a vette. Just gotta add power to make up for that.

that's about 40 lbs. You can also get lightweight wheels. Then Apex is selling some lightweight 2 piece rotors now. Shaves off about 25 I believe. Then rear seat is 45. etc etc. It adds up over time.

I'm a big fan of reducing weight (except for my own, apparently) but I like to keep the stock feel of the car, keeping the seats and all in tact. I don't want to feel like I'm in a race car, unless I go full-on race car.

But, if you don't mind it, that seat is heavy.

If you race on only 2 gallons of gas that saves you 16 gal*6lbs/gal=96 lbs
Drain the windshield fluid for another 8 lbs
remove floor mats, rear seat trunk mats, air compressor in trunk, engine cover and vualah you have easily dropped over 100 lbs off the curb weight for track day without spending any money or that much time. All really simple things that make it easy to convert back to street mode

And the Vette will still beat the Camaro

Yeah, he's needs some power mods along with some weight reduction to get the job done.
Full exhaust sheds a lot of weight and adds around 40hp.

Intake, full exhaust, and a tune puts a Camaro SS in the mid 12s category. Add some drag radials and light weight wheels and you're looking at low 12s.

Low 12s will beat most stock C6 at the track (I said most not all).
