Vertical Door Install

Got my Kit last week and installed it.

The doors fit my theme of a Transformers Decepticon so i went for it.

I did it all mySelf . Never done this before or even removed a Camaro bumper or fenders. So i didn't rush it and went slow. Was about 30 hours of work for me. Little things added on time Like I had ground effects on the car and they cover the Bolts of bumper and fender lol

Spend most time on the first door ( Second one was 1/2 the time) and most of the time was getting it match up correctly with fenders.

Here are some Pic's of the job. Hope you like.

Did you need to do any trimming on the fenders? I've been interested in doing this mod but read somewhere that the fenders needed to have some of the metal trimmed off in order to allow the doors to swing up without rubbing. If that's not the case, I think i'm willing to try a DIY install as well.

There is a mount that needs to be drilled out. Just two holes in the weld spots and it comes off and can be put back with bolts if you wanted to go back. Also yes the fenders have to be cut or rolled so it will fit correctly.

Attached picture shows whats need to be cut. You are cutting the red line to remove the part that has the mount that bolts to frame. If you look I added a red dot this will be drilled and this will be the new mount location from the kit.

Even cutting this and removing the mount. you can still remove this mod and put this back. If you rolled the fender you can role it back and bolt on the mount. if you cut it you can just make a new mount using the new hold in Red. All of this is behind the door and you will never see it anyway.

I will try to get some more pictures on this cut and how it was.

Its a Decepticon Transformer. Got some of the GM OEM Transformer stuff. But they dont have much for bad side. Had to find Non GM parts for that.

FYI the Transformer version of this car the doors go up like this in the back to make wings. ( I don't know, still trying to justify them lol. But i like it so its all that matters)

You can see more pictures of the Transformer stuff Here
