It's chromoloy...steel would have to be much larger to be NHRA legal.

It's chome moly tubing. The invoice for it says "NHRA Chassis Certification" on it.

I can check on the diameter. I don't have that right here.

Will do! I just sent a note to Holt Racing who put the cage in to find out what the diameter of the tubing is so I can get the appropriate padding.

From Ben Holt of Holt Racing in Columbus, Ohio (they installed my cage):

"All of the main tubing structure (per NHRA specs) is 1 5/8" OD x .083 wall 4130-grade Chrome Moly tubing. The rear seat bar is 1 1/4" OD x .065 wall, and I think the rear uprights are the same. The corner diagonals are all 3/4" OD x .058."

Good luck with the rest of the build!! I would have wanted to stay with the same shop that I started with too. The ball shoukd really get rolling from this point on. Hopefully from here on out its positive updates!!. See ya in Indy.
