I know before I drove a vette I didn't think much of the weight difference between the camaro and the vette. It isn't till u drive both of em that u actually feel the difference.

The Camaro doesnt even compare to the Vette in terms of performance and there should be no need for it. The 2 cars were built for two different drivers in two completely separate classes. Gm would never make a 30k car compairable to their flagship anyway. They did that once unawarely in the late 80's with a little car, maybe you heard of it it was called the Grand National and was killed quickly when Gm realized their collosal goof. The Vette is a true world class sports car. The Camaro is a true pony/muscle car. No more, no less. They should not even be compaired. Sure you can make a Camaro run with a Vette but put the same mods in a Vette and say seeeeya and even then you just have a fast pony car not a true sports car. If I wanted a sports car then I would have gotten a Vette but I wanted a mean muscle/pony car so I got the SS.

I agree driving a camaro. than driving a vette you really feel the difference. I mean even with a base corvette you can feel how much faster it is than the camaro. Plus the camaro isn't really a sports car. But since its a modern muscle car. people consider it to be a sports car. Thats just it. With modern muscle cars people don't see muscle cars as muscle cars any more. They see em as sports cars. Same goes with the mustang and challenger people see em more as sports cars rather than a true american muscle/pony cars.

I have always wanted a Corvette and still do. I love the C 6's too. However I am very happy with my 2010 SS and love it. At this point I would be happy just to drive a new Corvette just to experience it.

I love them both. Each has it's own purpose and style. But, I have to say you can't beat the thrill and what you get in the Vette for the money.

Well hopefully you'll get the opportunity one day. but be careful if you ever do get to test drive a vette. once you get it on the road you won't wanna take her back!

First, let me say that my first new car was a 1971 SS Hugger Orange Camaro (yeah, I'm old). I bought the new Camaro for 2 reasons - I'm going through my 5th midlife crisis and i love the look.

I had an 05 and an 07 Vette. The 05 was rated @ 350 HP. The 2007 @ 400 HP. I loved both cars. If I had to bet, I would say my camaro is faster than both in their primes. I left both Vettes stock, no mods.

I can say that I feel safer in the Camaro as opposed to the Vettes because of the weight difference. My Vettes did handle slightly better. I'm sure a base 2010 or 2011 would probably beat the Camaro because there is a hugh weight difference.

The Vette is the flagship sports car for GM and they would be cutting their own throats to make the Camaro the competition. JMHO

I would probably say your right in saying the camaro is faster than the 05 vette but Im not so sure its faster than the 07 vette but I'll trust you considering you've driven both cars.

05-07 are the same engine....LS2 400hp

You must be thinking 04 vette.

97-04=ls1/345-350hp. 05-07=ls2/400hp. 08-11=ls3/430-436hp

The LS3 5th gen has a very slight edge over the ls1 vette. An 05-07 vette would beat a 5th gen no questions asked...they have went high 11's bone stock. Only a couple ticks behind the ls3 vette...

This is a great picture. About the time you feel like the Camaro is short and low to the ground look at it next to the Vette and it looks like it's lifted. My uncle has a Corvette (I think a 2007) and it's a really nice car. It's like the OP said, the Vette is fast and you can feel it. The Camaro is what I call "Sneaky Fast."

camaro faster than vette? if it's an auto vette maybe...but my M6 FRC C5 stock is faster than my camaro SS with longtubes, air intake, and a tune. the 3.42s in the vette help...as does weight...the FRC is where the Z06 came from.

LOL...ok.

When has the c5 vette ran a 12.5 stock? when has it trapped 112? (current best for the 5th gen in trap and 1/4)

A 300whp c5 vette is going to beat my 435 rwhp 5th gen...not on this planet (according to your exhaust and tune not being enough). Even accounting for the weight I have 75hp to spare...I would RAPE a stock C5.

BTW...auto 5th gens have run low 12's with your mods...much faster than a stock C5 as well.

well even a auto vette would have an advantage over the L99 camaro. but not the LS3
