Plus, any company that thinks they can claim 25,000 miles on one oil change is just plain full of shit.
"...run too long on the same oil..." that's a big problem in any vehicle. my sister locked up the old explorer i gave her from doing that. it burned off, never got replaced, & seized up.

25,000 is far too long an interval for any motor oil

i've been running Mobil1 in my truck for almost 10k w/ a Wix filter & had no problems. it's still pretty clean, but i doubt i'll ever run an interval that long again. it was more of a test, seeing as how this was my first time using a synthetic.

ps - my comment about the AMSoil was just to poke at spike

Well heres my opinion and Iam sure I may get flamed for it but I have owend 3 Lsx vehicles, a 98 trans am, 01 camaro ss, and a 05 gto. All three of them used oil when I ran fully synthetic oil in them. Now I run synthetic blend in the gto and the problem is viturally eliminated. Iam not that sold on synthetic oil and If i buy a new camaro It will probobly get synthetic blend put into it as well.

synth blends are a waste of money. you get some benefits from both dino oil and full synth, but blends can not give you the same protection as full synth.

LSX motors have had a history of using oil. hell, all engines will use some oil.

with my old 70 c-10 pickup truck, I used to do a "running oil change" just keep adding more in every month and change the filter every now and then.

Holy crap that's a lot. I've never had to add oil to my '97 Z28 and I've owned it for 4 years.

i've been told by a few mechanics that that's pretty normal for the 4.3, especially with 140k miles.

when i changed it every 3000 on dinosaur juice, i never added more. it was just a quart low. the same story with my old 4.0 explorer

I quickly learned to just buy my Mobil 1 and filter before hand and then I have my Chevy Service tech guy do the oil change and I just get charged for the labor only.

Much cheaper indeed!
