in need for advice
Hey everyone, how are you doing? hopefully you're all alright.
Well,I hope this thread is helpful for others as it would be helpful for me but right now,I would love some answers to those questions I have and would be grateful if you can also give me a nice advice. Basically,I'm trying to make my camaro better, but right now,I'm between 2 choices. Should I get a super charger kit for the Camaro or should I get a Nos kit? If I get the super charger kit, what would be the best one to get? And if I get the Nos kit, which one would you recommend? Need to note that I got a stock engine only (bolt on) on the Camaro. Thank you very much and hopefully someone can help me out.

Personally I'd go Supercharger.
I'd go with a Whipple for more power later. Plus it stays cooler than a Magnuson and some others. Also, in case it's hard to find good tuners over there, a supercharger will come with a tune to load in your car. Would work great especially if your car is all stock. (original) NOS is cheaper to install but I don't know a lot about it. |

Superchargers are only more expensive in the short term....long term they are more economical. Nitrous is expensive....and addictive....bad combination.

I tried to "like" both the above posts. lol Nitrous is great, but more expensive in the long run, and only usable in a planned situation. Supercharger (whipple/procharger) is there all the time, and with a proper tune has alot more safety built in for the unexpected variations.

The OEMs are have Taken Note and now offering Superchargers on more and more models. Unless you are intimately familiar with NOS it can be very High Risk Power adder. I use it on many cars over the years and it does work very well but only until the bottle runs out, right when you need it most

All the nitrous hate If you want a "set it and forget it setup", a supercharger is the way to go for sure. I love nitrous. its quick, easy, relatively cheap, and generally faster compared to a boosted setup of the same power level--especially on heavy cars. you can do a 150 shot pretty easy on these engines and fuel system, but would need a stand alone fuel cell for 200+.
Nitrous is basically boost in payments. But figure a whipple setup, installed will be 7500+. minus about a grand for the cost of nitrous kit (nitro daves is the best IMO) that leaves you with about 6500 bucks difference. $60 a bottle fill, a bottle a week (thats quite a bit of toying around). you can almost burn a bottle a week for 2.5 years before you start to make up the difference in costs between a nitrous and supercharged setup. LOL. It just all depends on what you are wanting to get out of the car. If you daily the car and drive aggressively often and need to have the extra 1-200 HP all the time, go supercharger. If you are a weekend warrior, nitrous. |

I'd go with whipple as my first choice, and secondly Nitrous Express, they have a nice kit for the camaro.
