Why speed and alcohol do not mix.....

Ladies and Gentlemen - my Camaro Comrades.....

I'm sitting at my desk choking back tears -- because we lost another one of our Camaro Comrades --- and it didn't have to happen........

http://www.wwmt.com/articles/county-...ing-crash.html

By all accounts, Marine Greg Courtney was a great guy - a great friend, son, and hero who served in Afghanistan........

None of us will ever know exactly what happened or WHY it happened......but we do know that he was travelling at very high speeds - and that alcohol was involved.

Yes - we can be thankful that there weren't friends in the Camaro with him -

.....and yes, we can be thankful that no other vehicle was involved....

...... and yes, we can be thankful that he didn't strike someone's home........

...........but we lost another fine young Marine - and a Camaro Comrade......and it didn't have to happen.

As you watch the attached videos, you will plainly see that there is no way our engineers can save a person from this type of accident......and just because cars are capable of high speed doesn't mean that you need to try them out 'just to see what it'll do' ........

You've heard me say it thousands of times - and I will CONTINUE to say it -
....and I will continue to BEG you:

Please - DO NOT GET BEHIND THE WHEEL OF ANY CAR OR TRUCK AFTER YOU'VE BEEN DRINKING...........

FURTHER - I hear some of you talk about getting your cars up to triple digits on 'back roads' -- and I think what people don't realize is that all it takes is for one dip in the road - one deer to step in front of you - one child on a bicycle to dart out - and a similar accident could occur......and it will never have a happy ending........

Please - think about what you're about to do when the urge hits you to 'see what happens'........it may not end well.....

Someone lost a beloved son - someone lost their best friend -- the Marines lost one of their brave -- and we lost a Camaro Comrade..........

:upset:

Rest in Peace -- Comrade Greg Courtney......and thank you for your service to our country - but you died way too soon and for the wrong reasons.....

:( I hate seeing this, and it happens so often. I don't understand it, but I agree that it sucks horribly. Rest in peace, brother.

Very very sad to hear this. My thoughts are with his family, friends and fellow marines.

RIP.

I think this was posted already, but yes, I feel very bad for his family. All that waiting for him to come home safe and then to see him carelessly throw it all away. Can't even begin to imagine how his family and friends feel right now.

Simply terrible tragedy.

I have never been able to drink (I get physically ill) so I can't relate to those that do, but I see far to much death & destruction from the "legal" drug all around me both lives ruined and the destruction resulting.

Our prayers go out.

Extremely unfortunate, drinking and driving just doesn't work. Reminds me of a my coworker's 18 year old brother crashing his pick up and he wasn't wearing a seat belt and was drunk.

I am 29 now and when I read stuff like this, I think back that only 8-9 years ago I was pulling some dumb shit while driving on the roads out there, I wasn't drunk mind you but I did race, drive at extreme speeds and acted crazy. I have hit trip digits in this car 3x since ownership on the roads, and they were roads I am extremely familiar with and in daylight while sober as a judge. I pretty much keep the wildside to the track now.

I got lucky when I was younger, I hope everyone out there stays safe wish them the best of luck.

Jesus...there is nothing left of that car. It looks like mashed up tin foil. I can't imagine the forces needed to shred a car this badly.
