Yes I read that later but the other kids like he said were hauling *ss. Yet he had also said that he had taken the car up to 175 the day before. Tell me where its is safe other than a track to take the car up to 175 and even then think about it. I'm not saying anything other than there's probably more to the story. Please don't say a deserted road or a highway. I'm not against going over the limit but 175 on a public road? He better clarify that and say it was on a track and even then he should be scorned for driving a day old Camaro whithout breaking in properly. Oh never mind he has another one coming. Sucks for what happened to the car , happy everyone is ok but come on. You know I always say cops can smell BS a mile away, firefighter/paramedics aren't too far from that ability. I'de bet a few would have something to say about this whole story. Anyhow I wish him better luck with the next one.

Unhappy

I used to live in Port Orange (a small city next to Daytona Beach) Fl for 7 years and I can tell you driving in Florida is a LOT different than my current home town of Jamestown. case in point, i JUST moved there with my parents and my brother after graduation. As you may or may not know I drove a ALMOST restored 80 Malibu Classic coupe (check this thread, post 21 for more info). and it was t boned by a guy doing over the speed limit and ran a red light. the car was totaled and the guy drove off. the cops and paramedics checked me out and according to the skid marks the cops said he had to be doing at LEAST 65-70 (55 speed limit on that back road).

a few years later i was still in P.O. Florida driving my current car a sweet 88 Camaro RS T top sport coupe (with the hood with the louvers from a IROC painted to match my car and IROC rims). I was at a red light in a turning lane of a big intersection. now some have 1 turn lane mine had 2 and when i got the green arrow i made my turn. in the lane next to me was a guy in a HUGE mid to late 70s Lincoln Town car that DWARFED my Camaro. as we were both turning he came into MY lane , thankfully i hit the brakes and backed off just BARELY avoiding him. i followed him a little bit and he stopped at a shopping plaza and it was an older guy in his 60s/70s (remember this is eastern Florida ). i told him what he did back there, he said "well, your young" and walked away .

as for the impact, of that camaro my thunderbird the car i bought after the camaro and the one destroyed in the previously mentioned thread my car was enteriely caved in and he was estimated doing 55/60 at the impact.

But the bottom, about a kid working for it, both in my experience in the insurance industry and in the fire department, I've heard the story a million times. 16-18 yr old kid that worked 7 days a week and spent all his time working on it an wrenching and etc, and yet still managed to take it out and do 100 mph into a tree. For every 1 "good kid" theres way too many "good kids" that still make really bad decisions.

I do work my tail off...7 days a week(outside on a golf course)...and a full time student in college...I do agree that kids do make bad decisions..and there are good kids that screw up...and I truely believe that I won't do anything stupid once I get the car...why??? look at this wreck...who would ever want to see their camaro like that?? yes 99.9% of kids couldn't handle this car cause they will test it past its limit...but I work to hard to screw up this dream...
