Well I don't commute with my camaro ,but I have had to drive manuals for work many times. Their're fine on the highway when you don't have to shift much ,but when you get into a lot of stop and go the fun wears off really fast.

50-60 miles every day for school in my SS. I love it! Hell, I loved it in my old truck. I just love driving lol. Traffic isn't really an issue where I drive so that's no problem.
Got 1300 miles in less than 3 weeks of owning my car |

Up till 2 weeks ago i did the daily commute with my camaro and it was 120 Mi (60+ one way) Its a M6 car that's so much fun to drive out in the southwest, Good roads and weather with a top posted speed of 75, This car runs all day long at 1800 rpm's with lots of pulling power, After 14 months i have no complaints on the Quality of the car.

Averaging 30 miles a day with mine, and stop and go is no issue. The clutch release point is a bit high from the floor, but very short, so the hand off is quick and easy. No jerky jerky even at 1000 rpm. And with all that torque, you can start off in 2nd (if slightly rolling).
I would guess that the V8 is better in stop and go than the 6, although I have only driven a 6 for a test drive. Mileage is whole other story, as I get only 12-14 mpg :( |

Not quite 50 miles a day (sitting at 44 mile commute, 22 one way). Had my M6 SS Since May in Phoenix traffic and have loved every minute of it.
At this point I am averaging about 55 miles a day, and my fuel tracking is putting me over 20 mpg now! You can see my mileage results here.. Diarmadhi's 1SS

50+ round trip, 90% freeway, sometimes traffic on way home (los angeles), M6 makes it more fun actually. I was afraid driving a manny would suck in L.A. but it is a blast.

This thread may dispel some of the mpg and manual trans in traffic myths. With some one even getting 20mpg WOW!
