It is important to understand this ONLY addresses the clean side, which is responsible for at best 2-4% of the oil ingestion into the intake air charge and that only occurs at WOT.

Props to GM for this addition, but 95% plus of the oil ingestion comes from the dirty side and this has zero effect on it. This does eliminate the need for the REX breather kit as this works very well. Just like the ZL1/ZR1/CTS-V that has a smaller version mounted to the main airbridge.

Its a small step, but at least it is a step.

Oh, and dont expect many, if any dealers to understand this....they will just scratch their heads with that Duh look.

My new 1LE came with the kit in the trunk. The dealer had no idea what it was. I am interested in adding a catch can if it still needs one.

I never believed in the catch cans but my last car was dripping oil from the intake and throttle. I figured hey, small investment on my new car.

However, I must say, installing the GM separator vs. the RX can definitely makes you appreciate OEM parts. I am still mind boggled why the after market hasn't caught up with quick connects on stuff like catch cans.

Trying to compare apples to apple this item would be like getting the Oil Breather from RX. So it is not a Catch Can in traditional thoughts. I am debating between RX Air Breather or this.

Hmm now I need to see if my vehicle already has it installed. I didn't have anything in the trunk when I purchased it 2 days ago.

That is because you don't have a truck, you sold your SRT8 truck years ago. It should be in your new trunk. Call the dealer, I think some cars had theirs shipped separately.

Might sound close but it is not. System is closed to atmosphere, breather is not. This doesn't filter anything, breather does. Filters fill up. The breather costs money, this doesn't, comes with the car. If GM, an OEM, went out their way to design and spend money on a part that they put in a customers hands, you better believe it is significant and that it is important on this car for high performance driving. I don't know of any OEM using breather caps. Have fun driving in rain and feeling comfortable that none of that water is not going through your breather cap right into your motor, oh and not into your combustion chamber, instead into your engine full of uncoated ferrous materials.

I don't have a lot of miles on my car and I have been runing with the OEM PCV seperator since day one. The RX catch can doesn't have any dark oil in it, still dripping WD40 (I used up a full can to wash it out).

I have about 1100 miles on the car so no oil in it yet.
