no you do not have to change the transmission, the LS3 engine will bolt in place of any LSx engine,,

Probably just a head gasket blown. Who did the last one? Use Fel pro and make sure you torque it with a torque wrench.

i didnt understand why it happend anyway cauz the gasket's are new from the dealer also the temp is normal the weather is nice here during this time of the year and I use it around 2000 mile after the overhauling and agian it started mixing oil with water

btw there's no Fel Pro gasket for 1997-1998 engine cauz this engine in my car is replaced with c5 engine (from 01 ss engine to 97-98 c5 engine)

It will fit very well. The LS3 is a great motor. I would recommend, however, having some fun before the install. Make sure to upgrade some internals in case you want a beast in your garage.

yes it is doable. I would think for the price you could build an ls1 with simular or better performance for much much less. A set of heads and a cam on an ls1 will go a long way and be cheaper. If you build an ls1 stroker you can get the same displacment or better than the ls3.
