FWIW, retreads are illegal on the steering axles of trucks. Only wheels and tires in tandem are allowed retreads.

Drive defensively...best defense to road hazards. I watched one come apart about an 8th mile ahead of me about 4 months ago. I immedeatly slowed down and waited to see what kind of hazards were there....lots of rubbers and one smashed up car...I drove carefully through it and on my way. The tough ones that come up late at night and in rain...those can be a pita.

I was behind a minivan on I-75 maybe 3 months ago that was passing by a semi when one of the rigs outer trailer retread came off. Entire tread nailed this minivan in the side at about 70MPH. All i saw was what looked like an explosion with no flames, a ton of smoke and debris fly everywhere. I got on my brakes hard and the van went off the highway into the grass median but thankfully didn't roll or crash further.

The entire front door and front fender were caved in and all torn up. Front passenger window was shattered and windshield was also cracked. I used my Onstar to call it in. Lady was shaken pretty bad and the van had a ton of damage. Semi , probably didn't even know or didn't care cause it never stopped. Scary stuff.

I f*cking hate retreads, but I think that writing your local congressperson is more effective than an online petition with no connection to government or due process...

So your saying your willing to buy them tires. The freight and fuel charges ultimately will just be passed on to the customer. Its just the same as taxes on businesses. When the cost of doing business goes up . So does the product/service the business provides.
