Factory Shifter with Hurst Arm and Knob?
Its been about 1000 miles since my Hurst shifter was installed and I am not happy with it. It takes too much effort to go in to gear. As advertised, the stick movement is positive and with a shorter throw, but I have to pull or push past what feels like too much resistance to go in each gear. My wife absolutely hates it and sometimes that's the norm with some of my past mods, but in this case, I hate it too.
At first, I thought that maybe it would "wear in" after a few miles, but it hasn't changed. I talked to Hurst for advice and they said they've never had of any complaints like mine, "There is no adjustment". It is so bad that I have considered going back to stock. Barton, MGW and the others are not the answer because I don't like the looks of their arms and knobs. Yes, I am choosing style over function and I'm OK with that. So, here is my question: I know the stock factory arm and knob will bolt up to the Hurst shifter, but does anyone here know if the the Hurst arm and knob will bolt up to the stock factory shifter? Alfie

There is a post where one forum member modified the stock shifter base to use the rectangular Hurst shaft and knob.
It did require cutting and welding. Looks great but requires some work. You could probably come up with an adapter that would eliminate the welding. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71902 |

Alfie you can use the stock shifter knob on the Bartons that might make you happy. Barton has 3 very good options with the flat stick becoming very popular it looks like the hurst but it isnt chrome. Thr MGW is an amazing shifter imo as well and looks fantastic. Here are some shot of these shifters.
