As usual, this is what I was expecting.. Prices of parts will always increase to compensate for the times when in reality it might be cheaper to produce.. You see this all the time with the semiconductor business model.. However the research and development costs increase because the developers salaries over time go up as well... The cost of the machinery and parts decrease drastically once yields and efficiency improve, however all the money saved usually stays with the company and never reaches the consumers pockets.. (the money is then spent on R&D anyways as the cycle continues)

Just a thought... When the LS1 first came out, the Camaro got it the very next year, almost in the same way the Camaro is getting the LS3 very soon after the 'vette. But then I also remembered that the 4th gen Camaro KEPT the LS1 throughout the remainder of its lifespan, with only one minor factory improvement in HP. I just wonder if it'll be that way with the 5th gen. As in, will it be 4 or 5 years, or more, before the Gen V engines are put in the Camaro?

This is what i've found on other forum
General Motors are currently looking to meet the new emissions regulations, while trying to save the Corvette. The rumors of a rear mid-engine Corvcette are false, the C7 will be the first of a mid-engine Corvette alright, FRONT Mid-engine and powered by a rumored 5.0 liter supercharged V-8 or a new turbocharged 4.9 liter V-8, either way look for some real performence form a Corvette that will be lighter then the current car, as well as more compat thanks to smaller components!!!
The Corvette may get a race bred 4.9 liter V-8 fitted with a supercharger, producing around 450 BHP in the base model, and tuned to 600 for the ZR1 successor. The cars body will be smaller to showcase it's new power to weight ratio, the Corvette Centennial Conept will show alot of new themes for the C7.

http://carspyshots.net/showthread.php?t=15028&page=3

Also it seems there will be new engine in corvette for racing.

The new GT Corvette C6.R race car will be based on the production Corvette's chassis and body design. A 6.0-liter version of the LS7.R small-block V-8 will power the Corvette GT2 entry in the transitional 2009 season. A new naturally aspirated 5.5-liter version of the production GM small-block V-8 will be developed to meet the new GT regulations that will take effect in 2010. The chassis and powertrain specifications of the new Corvette GT entry will be submitted to the ACO and FIA for homologation approval.

Please compare a 2010 Camaro to a 2010 Mustang I gurarantee you the 2010 Stang will have much more than 300HP tx

I expect and hope that's true but GM has released their 2010 horsepower numbers and Ford hasn't so comparisons can only be made to the 2009, additionally there's going to be significant overlap with the 2009 due to the timing.

As for the DI V8 from GM, all I have to say on that is I hope the design is moving along well!

Unfortunately you will have to wait a while before GM confirms or denies the existence of a 'top dog' Camaro. All we know for sure is that they won't talk about future product plans.
