Headers/CAI or Headers/Exhaust or Exhaust/CAI
Before I spend all your taxpayer dollars (I'm in the military) on modifying my car which would you guys recommend for the most hp/tq gain for the money?

Headers and CAI would be my guess. With the headers you get more HP and better sound from the exhaust.

Works out to around 40 dollars per HP where N/A mods work out to about 85 dollars per HP at the 150 RWHP gain mark, which is where most guys shoot for. Any Questions feel free to shoot me an email or give me a call. Take a look at our JRE 560 RWHP Street Brawler/Daily driver package. Ted.

Yea I know the supercharger would be the most gain as far as dollar per hp but I really don't have $7k to spend right now. I was looking to keep it under $2k for right now.
Do the Doug Thorley Shorties bolt right in to the standard exhaust? |

I'm doing headers and intake. I found a great deal on Dynatech headers and I'm waiting for the Vararam intake. From what I've seen some people claim 17rwhp from muffler delete and others claim 1rwhp with a full catback. Nothing seems to add up, but I know headers will net at least 30rwhp and Vararam claims at least as much. So I'm starting with these two and will worry about the rest of the exhaust later.

With the dynatech, do you need the get the catted/noncatted section too or are you just getting the headers?

Is there much horsepower to be gained with shorty headers, if you keep the stock cats? I would think the scavenging properties would be only marginally better than the stock manifold...?

Soon to recieve my ARH's headers and mid pipe. What would you estimate the HP gain between tuned and stock tune after they are installed. Sold my first CAI waiting for results of your test before I replace. Vararam claims big HP #'s on there G8 intake. Are they for real? Certianly not the prettiest CAI but it certianly looks functional.

Headers and a TUNE. (and you'll LOVE the sound)
I still have stock mufflers...and I'm not in ANY hurry to replace them.

I just did Borla S Type axle back and a Roto-Fab CAI. I put these on myself. Sounds fantastic, easy installs. That will cost you $1,200. You can get tune after that for $400 - $600. The headers and a tune will cost about the same. I'm getting AR Long Tube headers with high flow cats on Monday and a tune. I've been driving around for a few weeks with the CAI and Borla's. I just thought it was time for headers and a tune.
