Any problems with the convertible tops leaking?

My friend who I'm helping search for a vert said she'd read some reports of leaking issues.

I figured folks here would know better/more than the "news" reports.

I'm not sure where she read this, but I figured if anyone knew the score, it would be the folks here!

I've been thru some major rain storms and a couple trips thru the car wash without a drop leaking inside.

One of the magazines took a pre-production convertible out into a monsoon for their review test and of course there was a small leak. That...may be what your friend read.

All cars get run through a water test at the plant before they're shipped off. And dealers are instructed to inspect each convertible top upon delivery as a double-reassurance.

Here is a video from Chevrolet that shows some the testing done on the convertible.

Sunday, on my return trip from Virginia, I went through two small storms. The first one, I had no leaks whatsoever. The second one, I got a bit wet.

However, to be fair to the car, I had put the top back down thinking the rain was done and then attempted to outrun the storm unsuccessfully (Traffic did NOT want to cooperate).

The nice thing though was that even though it did rain a bit, I only had drips from the windshield on the inner door panels that were easy enough to wipe up after I stopped. The aerodynamics of the car makes it so that most raindrops clear over the passenger compartment. One suggestion if caught in short shower with top down ... do NOT run your wipers if at all possible. The wipers will concentrate a stream of water that will run right up the driver's side of the windshield and dump on your shoulder... just saying.

I'm getting a half gallon of water on my back floor whenever there is a heavy rainstorm. Didn't notice as it has not rained much when I'm out of the garage, but found it when I was vacuuming a week ago.

There is a service bulletin on it (#PIC5458). It has to do with the drain tubes from the water management bag being disconnected \ pinched \ ?. The dealer's body guys are looking into it then will set up an appointment to fix.

I am concerned about the carpet stinking if it gets wet too often, but they said they would replace that if needed.

Honestly, don't know where she heard this because I tend to research the crap out of stuff. And other than isolated goofy stuff like mandog has, the design and seal of these tops is extremely strong. Now the disclaimer is that they haven't been out that long but just from my looking at the design, I got a pretty strong feeling that they will last for a while.
