AIR COMPRESSOR IN TRUNK

Have any of you had trouble removing the air compressor from the trunk of the 2012 SS. What is the trick, or is it just me?

No trick, it should just pull out of the foam holder (assuming its the same as earlier models). Mine's a little easier, since its just sitting in a box in the trunk with some rags and a spacer for my spare.

I put my new spare tire kit in yesterday and pulled out the compressor and foam & the compressor was a little tough to separate from the foam but I pulled the small piece of foam on the outside then the compressor came right out.

Use a foam gun. I recommend .357 or .44 Magnum.

Can somebody enlighten me?
What air compressor in the trunk? What it does? Is it stock or add-on?

It's stock... if you didn't get a spare, which was not an option on the SS, you got the air compressor. It's where the spare tire would normally go... on top of the battery.

then keep a small hose coiled up in the trunk adn drag it out when needed. it would be real handy at the track too.....let some out for racing.....then air them up to drive home with.

in regards to the air compressor, does it charge automaticly? Or is it a plug in deal? Last night, and a couple of times backing out of my drive way, I hear a knocking sound coming from the trunk area. Last night I heard it sitting a traffic light when I left work.

It's a normal walmart quality 12 volt mini compressor that plugs into any car 12V outlet. What is unique about this one is that there is a replaceable bottle of tire sealant inserted into the pump housing and a switch on the pump that selects tire sealant, off, or air. So you would plug it in, select sealant and inject this slime into your tire and then select the air to complete the fill of the tire. Then, drive a directly as you can to a tire shop.

Once a second 5-6 times? That's it.
Thanks. You hit the nail right on the head. 5-6 times once a second.

Air comressor

Just a reminder if anyone has to use the sealant you have to get the tire dimounted and cleaned out as this will damage the pressor sensor and that is not covered under warrenty.
