Bhp for the SS
Is it me, or do you think a lot more bhp can come out of the automatic and manual Camaro SS

Somehow, methinks there may be more. Especially since everything is in the final testing and development stage.
To me a magic number would be 425 HP for he LS3. That would have a great ring to it when advertised. |

More is better for sure.
I also understand that they might be underrated somewhat, but still....even the 422 seems "low". Especially when you read about Ford's upcoming EcoBoost engines....their 6-cylinder that will be used in the MKS is capable of 415HP, so, in a little over a year from now, we could be in for the same spanking that the Camaro is about to give the Mustang, just the other way around. I hope the General is paying attention. |

They wont have a Camaro coming stock with more power than the "Flagship" Vette. If you want more power you are going to have to do it yourself.
GM going after a certain customer base with this car, they are not going to take away from people interested in a Vette. |

The customer base for a Vette and a Camaro is totally different though. Horsepower has no effect on that.

Yeah, I got that, I understand it and while it sucks for the Camaro guys, it is probably best for GM, so I can live with it.
But, just like the 3.6DI V-6 is going to compete with the Mustang GT's V-8, the next Ford V-6 will compete with the "current" Camaro's V-8, meaning the General needs to step it up or risk losing sales not to the Corvette, but to Ford (heaven forbid). |

Check the article.... http://www.motortrend.com/features/a..._gt/index.html The Fusion GT is going to get one that makes 340...."well below the engine's 415-horse capabilities". The thing is Nissan really only has one car, maybe a couple Infiniti's too, to spread that cost over, so yeah, they have to charge a lot. Ford can put these engines in everything from the Fusion and the Mustang to the Taurus and the Flex. Don't forget about the F-150's and the upcoming mid-size truck, the F-100. Oh, don't forget that Ford can also spread that cost to the Mercurys, Lincoln, and even the Volvos (currently). They can also be used in the "SVT" versions of the Focus and upcoming Fiesta. Ford sells far more cars that it can use the engines in than Nissan does, so they can charge less for them. I think it will happen. I hope it does. I love the idea of more power and better mileage at the same time. I'm still a big fan of the V-8 and huge horsepower from a V-8, but 400+HP and better mileage from a V-6....I'm interested. Back to the post, I was just saying that GM better be ready to up the ante if Ford makes this move. We all know that Ford (like GM) has screwed up in the past, so this may never happen. Add their financial issues, and again, it may never happen. But, it might. And if it does, GM needs to be ready to fight back. I'm sure they are on top of it. I just hope we don't have to wait for years for it to come out. |

I think there's a small difference, though
OUR V6 (base model) is going to be on the tail or their GT. (which is embarrassing.) THEIR V6 (high-end model) will be competing against our SS. (Which is promising) |

why does the GT with 300hp keep getting mention in comparison with the camaro? the redesigned mustang with the reported 5.0 engine will be out next year and if I'm not mistaken the camaro comes out next year also. so should not the camaro be compared to the 2010 mustang not the 2008 model??

Cam + Tune = near if not surpassing 500 horsies.
Doesn't matter what it is stock. If you want more power, it's very easily accessible... |

I think a tune would get you a bit and I've been wondering if AFM could be turned off if you wanted to.
