Wwwoooow.

You see all those horror shots of these boats tumbling and tearing themselves to pieces...but that was quite a sight! I hope to one day see (and hear) one in person!

That is one hell of a hull design.....I love the Mystic vids!

edit, I wanted to ask....on Mystic, I see it come out of the water (sort of like a bass boat on plane), and wanted to know how long is the steering rudder? The shots I've seen of it at speed it looks to be about 4 feet long. Just curious cause there has to me more down there to turn like this boat can!

If the bridge wasn't there the boat could hit 240 if there was enough space to stay in it. That would break the world propeller driven speed record of 220 mph when it is a sanctioned run.

That's Bad A$$.

N-
You are right on the rudder (at very high speed). We have different lengths that go from 3 - 6 feet depending on usage and conditions. You also use the turbine thrust in turns to steer smoother since the props are so far apart.

There is a patented reason why the big Mystics (and the small USV's) corner like they are on rails but I will not put that on a public forum. The little ones pull insane g's laterally. The big ones are damped for obvious human reasons - like breaking your neck. Think of fighter jets turning in the air and then think of turning on the water. Water doesn't compress...

Very cool. Oh, and I've fished under that bridge in the video. That's "home" home.

Pony Wars a go?

Gotta get a hold of NRE, but making arrangements through Andredmg for transport back shortly. My obvious goal is to be at Pony Wars.

"water doesn't compress"

that boat wasn't IN the water! Another 20mph and the hull numbers can be their tail numbers

Are those surface drives? Seems like it would have to be at those speeds!

That was insane!!! The radar guns maxing out at 208 makes me wonder how fast that other boat went that matched the same 208mph. If both of you guys hit 208 and your GPS was showing up to 220. Good grief.... Sounds like those guys are going to need to change out their radar guns. Has anyone told them about their problem?

When we set the record a few years back the boat was showing around 212. We just thought it was an error in our GPS. We know better now.
I think they know now. A couple of mph is one thing, but 10-15 mph off repeatable is pretty conclusive. Plus we can back ours up with N1/N2 rpm, blade pitch and prop slip to show what the numbers should be.

Here is a clip from my parents. (They live in the Binghamton area of Upstate NY which has heavy, heavy flooding right now. Luckily they live on top of a mountain so they are not directly affected). Another Camaro saved.

I'd be in the same boat (no pun intended). Injen CAI waaaay down below the foglight. I hope some of this rain finds it's way to Texas!
