You obviously have never been to Mass... it's not a dessert here.

Simple answer to this is yes. All cars will built up condensation and you will see water under the car after using the A/C. This is normal. Never had a car that didn't do this and never seen a car that didn't. Just all depends on your area and how much A/C you are using if you would actually even see anything hit the ground, and how much would hit the ground.

A/C Draining

Hi, Been working all 4th weekend. I appreciate everyone's input here, and I agree with all of you. I'm always testing the new camaro, looking for things right or wrong. I though yesturday would be a good day to look for a/c condensation.

Well, here is what I found out independent of all your replies. I saw a tiny drop about the size of a dime. when I moved the car there was two big puddles running down both sides of the tranny. Apparently, the water pools on top of the tranny, and when I moved the car it all spilled down both sides of the A6.

Everything is fine, but this is good stuff to know !!!!

Well, about 15 years ago..... your comment about the oil completely took the conversation out of context which is why I though it was stupid.

In the context of idling a car for an hour in 95 degree heat it IS the worst thing you can do with the assumption that an engine having the capacity to run for an hour already has sufficient oil and coolant in it.

You either failed to see the point or just had to slip your 2 cents in. Fine, enjoy it.

You are the one who failed to aid in answering the OPs Question

Your 2 cents as you put it was "Take it to the dealership"

Have a Nice Day

I'm going to be taking my car in for this. This weekend, after a 6hr trip from PA to MA, I checked under the floor mats, and the floor was pretty wet on both driver side and passenger side. There was even what appeared to be the water mark of the path where the water was running from the center console near the gear selector down to the floor on the passenger side. And my car is newer - born in March.

I recommend everyone check your floors for water indications. It will actually be easy to see as the undersides of the floor mats are rubber and the water will "stick" to these.

I read way up in the thread, Bradshaw, we in Mass have had 90% plus humidity for weeks now So there should be plenty of condensation.

One of our old vehicles was a 96 Isuzu Rodeo.. It's AC drained out the firewall onto the frame.. after 12 years... frame rotted away. It also rotted a tranny line once.

Hopefully the drain on top of the transmission is not a big deal..

The transmission has an aluminum case, it won't rust

As an update, I took my car in because the floors were getting damp and some water would sputter out of the middle vent. The service manager at Lannan Chevrolet, when he saw the TSB that I brought in, told me that the grommet would be the second thing they would look at (first thing would be to blow some air through it, if they could). About a 1/2hour after I handed him the keys, he came to the waiting area with the tech, who was holding in his hand the grommet, and it looked exactly like it did in the picture in the TSB. He joked "Gotta love the work those robots do."

They reinstalled it the proper way and it's all set - the part was still in good condition, just "collapsed" as they call it. It's a one time fix, as it gets installed at the factory incorrectly. Once it's aligned properly, it shouldn't need to be fixed again.

What I was surprised at is how big the part is. The picture in the TSB does it no justice. I figured it was a 1" diameter part with a 1/4" hole or so. The thing is actually pretty darn big as it sat in nearly the entire palm of his hand, and the hole is a good 1" or so.

Forgot to mention - my car was born in March 2010.

I've noticed that sometimes when I do this, I get a little water sputter through the louvers in the center (right center one to be exact). Reading the PDF, it says that some customers "feel moisture coming from the center vent" DOH! I guess I'll keep an eye on my carpets. I don't like the idea of having them dropping the transmission.

Second point - when I had the car up on a lift last week, I noticed what I thought was the A/C drain tube. There was a tube that ran down from the engine compartment along the right of center of the car and had a 45deg bend downward and ended with it's opening point downward. Does anyone have any idea what that is?
I would get it fixed ASAP. They did not fix it on my car last year when I complained and they messed up the enitire inside of my car this year when they had to strip it down to the metal to get rid of the smell and mold.
