Camaro ZL1 Quarter mile E.T.s 11.??

I was looking at the CTS-V Quarter mile records from the Cadillac Owners forum and was wondering how comparable these numbers will be to the ZL-1? So many things play into this weight, actual horsepower numbers, traction.... ect. Bone stock its ran a 11.99 @ 118 mph. How much will The Z improve on that???

I'm not sure anyone can answer that until we know the final specs on the car.

Stiffer suspension, more power and lighter.

My guess: 11.89

Well, the current CTS-V weighs more and has less HP than the 2012 ZL1. I assume the new CTS-V will have the same upgraded LSA for 2012. So I expect teh ZL1 to run 11.5s

I think the rags', minus the likes of GMHTP, Super Chevy, and CHP, will get 12.0s and someone like you would get 11.7-11.8. Lighter, more weight, but tires that I'm not as confident in as those PS2s...

I think that all we need to do is look at the numbers from SLP's ZL585 test by motorweek for an indication of what's in store for the ZL1 from chevy.

.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "built for speed, not comfort" ?

What wheels was the CTS V using, and do we have any weight savings there? Any savings on the wheels will produce a more substantial difference than the pound for pound weight comparison between the vehicles.

I'm guessing the weight savings and wider rubber will correspond to a good tenth of a second improvement, so 11.85 - 11.9 would be my expectation.

Maybe even a touch better with everything designed to work together as a total package. I'm open to being astounded.

True, true, true. I see myself moving into some 315s or 325s though

That's a good proxy, I think. Except for it maybe weighing a little less, and I'm not sure what the aerodynamic differences would make between the two in only 1320', but I think that's a fair comparison. That car probably makes a little more power and weighs a little less, but won't have the traction of ZL1.

Does CTS-V have PTM?... That might help, too. Getting more power, too

I'm itching to find the answer to that question firsthand. Time seems to be standing still waiting for this thing.

I was thinking the same as far as numbers with perfect conditions I think a low 11.8 high 11.7 could be possible. The mph is there for for that E.T. or better. Its going to come done to a great 60' to run it though.
