DEX-COOL is Orange liquid. DEXRON-VI ATF Red. From the MSDS. Hope that helps! Me, I'd say you have a POSSIBLE transmission leak. Did you touch it? Was it warm? Was it slick? What did it smell like? Slightly burnt smell? Not really a mechanic, but at least you could describe what you see/saw. Good luck with that. Troy Lawson |

Anti freeze is green. Red drops would be transmisssion fluid.

Our dexcool is reddish/pink. When it cools as in a leak it gels also. When it happend to me I was like WTF?? It's probably the fitting going into the side of the engine block (driver's side). There's a know issue with that fitting. Just bring it in and the dealer will take care of it.

dip your finger in it and smell it. if it smells sweet then its coolant. if it smells like, well its been a while since i smelled ATF so i cant really describe it, it will have an oil smell to it.

had the same thing happen I thought it was tranny fluid, but it was dexcool that turned to gel , the fitting from the oil cooler to the engine block was the trouble. Took it to dealer they replaced the line and both fittings and all is well

Antifreeze and/ engine coolant question
Thanks for all of your thoughts,I guess since I have quite a bunch of mods, my dealer will just say "voided warranty".
I am have a Cog Drive installed in a couple of weeks...will have the tech check it out then. Thanks again. |

i wouldn't wait a few weeks if i was you. if it is transmission fluid where ever its leaking from, probably a cooler line, it could suddenly rupture while your driving down the road and pour out a large amount of fluid very fast. without being aware of the large leak you could easily burn up your transmission before you realize anything is wrong.
and if its antifreeze leaking, you definetly shouldn't risk running a supercharged engine low on coolant. the cooling system is already stressed from the additional hp added from the blower. either way it could be a cheap quick fix being neglected and turn into a couple thousand dollar repair just my opinion |

I had this fluid under my car. Turned out to be a coolant leak. The oil cooler line fitting in the engine block was leaking. They replaced fitting part# 25865738
Just as an FYI, Page 11-6 of the 2011 owners manual. Both the transmission and power steering use the same fluid. Hydraulic Power Steering System DEXRON®-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid Automatic Transmission DEXRON®-VI Automatic Transmission Fluid |

There is a TSB for that leak. I had the same issue. I bet you have a cross threaded coolant line going into the trans. It was an easy fix for mine, but some have had to rethread it.

Here's the TSB:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106513 Even if you're heavily modified, they should still fix this for you. This is a known problem, and in no way is it associated with you mods. I fixed mine myself. It's definitely tough to get a wrench on it, though. It's actually the fitting where the oil-cooler line attaches to the left side of the engine block.
