These wires drive anybody else crazy?
You know, you get a new electronic device, anything from an ipod to a dvd player or a video game and the wires are all folded up and bound with a twist tie. You unwrap them and it's almost impossible to straighten them out to their full potential.
Who has any idea how to unkink these blasted wires?

I have no idea.
But it drives me insane, too.

Try wrapping around a new roll of papertowels and warming the wire with a (not too hot) hairdryer, then let the wires cool off and remove from the towel roll

I always bend them in the opposite direction when I untie them. Works for me!

Haha, half the time I actually keep the twist tie on the wires since they're usually too long.

Or...and I did it with my latest par of earbuds: I secure one end to the top of a bookshelf/desk. And let them hang with a very light weight (hat, or pair of glasses) attached to the dangling end. Leave it overnight, and it takes the kinks out for the most part. I've never trying the hair-dryer technique...but maybe a combination of the above and that will give you a perfectly straight wire! |

Depends on the time you have. You could just hang them and the weight of the connector on the end will straighten it out after a few days. A faster way is to hang them up in a small room such as a bathroom, tie a small weight to the end and turn on an electric heater set on high for a couple hours.

The heat thing just reminded me...
Watching Ultimate Factories, the BMW episode, I remember that they warm their wiring harnesses before they install them in the car. They said the wires become more flexible and easier to install.

LOL. I really like the weight and wait idea. I think if you do that AND use the blow dryer, it may work really good.
