Hearing americans comlain about gas is funny. Right now ours is cheap at $0.98/L (Can) the equivelent of about 3.50/gal (US). When it gets bad it goes to nearly $4/gal equiv.

I complain, but that's just because gas was about 85cents a gallon when I started driving. LOL
Overall though, I live in the state with the lowest gas prices in the US (NJ). I filled my little Aveo up tonite on Regular for $2.56 a gallon... Ended up $25. That'll last me 2 weeks. |

Hey, I go to Canada regularly, so "aboot", and "eh?" is pretty much part of my vocabulary when I go up there.
but, I know it's a joke..., they don't actually emphasise the "boot" it's real subtle. So, what do you think Aboot that, eh? Okay, I'm gonna stop now... Let's make fun of southern Americans now and the "ya'll"...never mind... |

there is no dowbt abowt it, Americans talk funny.
But while clearing up some things about Canada and the US, I would just like to say that I'm not a lumberjack, or a fur trader....I don't live in an igloo or eat blubber, or own a dogsled....and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada, although I'm certain they're really really nice. I have a Prime Minister, not a president. I speak English and French, not American. And I pronounce it 'about', not 'a boot'. and the beaver is a truly proud and noble animal. A toque is a hat, a chesterfield is a couch, and it is pronounced 'zed' not 'zee', 'ZED' !!!! Thank you. |

My sister-in-law is from Kentucky. She's been here in Nebraska (land of no accent whatsoever) for awhile, so she's "wised up" a little and dropped the accent, but every now and then, or on specific words, she falls right back into her Kentucky accent. I give her crap about it all the time. |

You live in a moose infested territory, no? Anyways, I admit I'm not one to stereotype people based on where they live, but I have to say. Newfies have the craziest accent. And they are like bobblehead dolls, aren't they? Anyways, at least you guys don't have people trying to use your slang to sound cool. You'd be suprised how many people adapted the word HELLA from southpark and act like it's from their hometown. (Everyone always copies Bay Area slang, look at E-40 with "fa shizzle") |

Ah, slang. It sounds like crap untill you get used to it... Well, apparently New Yorkers pronounce their "o"s wierd. more like a W...Can't say that I do. Of course I don't count, because depending on where I am, I pick up the accent within a day without even realizing it untill I get back home.
I recently went to a college event, and was talking to this girl from Maine, or somewhere up there. During our conversation, she randomly spouted: "Your from around the Buffalo area aren't you?" I asked how she new, and she said I have a very strong "Buffalonian" accent... |
