Cam/header package or a supercharger?
Hi Everyone: I have had superchargers before, but never had a cam/header package installed. Which would your recommend and why? I have a new 2014 2ss 1le. Thanks in advance!

Cam and Headers, you will need headers regardless with an S/C or Cam but you cant beat that cammed idle in the LS3's. I have a 231/243 .617/.624 Comp Cams custom grind going in my car and I cant wait to hear it. Should be around 450-470whp

If you are going to track the car I personally don't want the extra 70+lbs of blower hanging over the front wheels. If you can swing a blower I would do heads, cam and headers and you should be very happy!

For the price vs HP with a base supercharger kit you can get damn near the same HP with a good Cam, headers, and heads for about half the cost.

I am in the same boat thinking SC would be awesome. BUT, I feel ported heads/custom cam/tune/long tubes/Ported TB/CAI should get me where I want to be. 565ish BHP is my goal NA. SICK! Later on if I want more I can slap a SC on. But then what?! With all that poweer you now have to worry about new rear end...beefier clutch...forged internals etc..etc..

Same quandary here, SC or LT /Cam / Headwork...
I am more interested in daily driving since I will not track the car...but you just cant beat the way the car sounds with a cam...I am sure the car would be insane!... |

If I could afford the cost of a SC, I would def choose headers/cam/LT's and coilovers instead!! Especially since mine is a DD and the ride isnt rough for me but a little smoother and better stance would be amazing!

If I had a Camaro, I would just do twin turbos and be done.
That being said, I've had a big cam car and a s/c car. The s/c car got better mileage, made more power, and drove like stock until you floored it. Big cam idled rough, had some hiccups at low rpm, and needed a lot of parking lot clutch work. Now you could go with a smaller cam to avoid some of those issues but then you are giving up power. For a daily driver FI I think is the much better option. Twins will makes 500-750rwhp with the twist of a dial, drive like stock until you want more power, stock gas mileage when not flooring it, etc.

Go with the middle option, a stroker engine like 415, 418, 427, etc. it will make much more power than heads cam and you have option to go FI later if ypu really wanted to. But if you stay NA you keep the weight off compared to FI and will have less to worry about...no heat soak, etc. This is what i would do.

+1 While the TTs add 100 pounds, the weight is low in the car. The power delivery is progressive and there is less stress on the engine than with blowers at the same power level. Dial in as much power as you want. Just add more fuel and meth as you go higher. At 700+ RWHP start thinking about forged internals, but stock displacement. IATs are as good or better than stock and heat soak is like stock. I'm converted.
No need to bother with headers, cams, or CAIs. They do not fit the TTs. Plus drive something unique and stealth if you want with a very quiet exhaust and BOV.

Start with cam, CAI and headers, and work your way up to a supercharger. That was my plan from the beginning. A supercharger upfront will get you plenty of fun power, but it won't sound like this at the stoplights (my cam specs are similar to Bozz1LE:
