I think LMR made over 500 rwhp with bolt-ons and a cam. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/2010-c...spirtated.html A friend of mine made over 500 rwhp in a 03 Z06 with heads/cam/intake and bolt ons. If he can do it with a stock 346. C.I. short block, you can do it with a LS3.

Vararam may be a good, even great, intake, but it won't be head and shoulders ahead of the rest. The other companies did months and months of research also. It just so happens that they can actually get their product out the front door in a timely manner.

The vararam is "ram air". The car is not moving on the dyno, so don't expect a HP increase with it.

Regardless of dyno results at least Vararam and New Era are true CAIs.
To the OP, there are a lot of 500+hp LS3. You might need to up the cam.

I have no idea, but I'm subscribing to this thread to get some ideas, I don't want to spray, and I don't want to sc either. It just feels like cheating when you do that stuff to a street car, and it's not as fun, half the fun is tinkering and trying to figure out how to make the big hp.

I beg to differ with your statement that is not as fun. Gotta a budy of mine that has a 725HP street car. Procharger, stroked Hemi. Trust me, this car is fun!!!

I'm with you, my other car is an 800whp Z06 which I call FUN. Wringing those last few HP out of a NA motor is an accomplishment, but big hp FI is a whole nother level of adrenaline.

I wasn't saying that driving the car isn't as fun, just saying the more dificult serch for 500 hp is more fun when it is more difficult IMO. You have to admitt with these cars, 500+ whp is just a maggie away, most of us N/A guys seem to still be searching for that all natural silver bullet. Just remeber "it's all good, somes just better than others" , and to each his own.

i was late to the party on superchargers; i also thought making power the old way was the only way; but if you can have a well mannered ride 98% of the time, and a freaking beast the other 2%(as much as most can enjoy it),why put up with another tempermental playtoy,if you don't have to?

Has anyone done a comparrison to see how much HP we are losing in the clutch, and if changing out the diff/trans mount bushings helps get the HP our engines make to the gorund?

500rwhp is possible with heads cam. I'll try to post my video & dyno sheet from my 2010SS with TSP camshaft & PRC LS3 CNC ported heads.
