Vista and Limewire
Can anyone help me....this is driving me nuts. For some reason, I can't connect to limewire. Everytime it begins loading, it gets to 12% saying (loading HTML engine) and it locks up. I haven't a clue what to do. I never had this problem w/ XP.
Any ideas? My windows updates are current. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. My firewall says limewire is allowed. |

You're using IE 6 or 7?
I'll try at home (I, too, have vista)... But the OS itself has never prevented me from loading a site. It's either your browser, or maybe Limewire itself is having difficulties... |

It did it to me when I first tried downloading it, and I restarted my computer then used Firefox instead of IE. Maybe that will work??

For 90% of sites. I completely reccomend Mozilla Firefox.
And as a staple, I also recommend "NoScript"; an add-on for firefox. It blocks all Java-script unless authorized by you, at which point it will remember you authorized it next time you visit. This means that any potential spyware, or viruses embedded into a site, will not be activated. And most of the time you don't need to even enable java to view the meat and potatoes of the site Just a thought, TAG... |

Firefox works well for almost every site I've visited. There are only a few where certain things don't work. And it is very secure. No viruses, no spyware, my computer still runs like new.

I will say this, it's a pain in the ass to begin with. Because you have to authorize all the sites you need to get into. Like this one
If a site doesn't seem to be working properly, and you need it to, check and make sure NoScript is letting the java through. BUT I digress . TAG, did you ever get Limewire to work? |

Naw...not yet. And I don't want to change my browser. I'm running the latest of Windows Vista and IE ? Couldn't tell ya the type or version. But, this only started when I upgraded to the new computer. Every other program I've tried has run just fine. I found a couple of troubleshooting sites for my exact problem. The only reason it hasn't been fixed is because I've been out of town and hand't had the time. Here's one trouble shooting site I found. My windows is completely up to date and all downloads are current. I need to continue w/ Java to make sure that's all good.
