The issue with the factory head unit is that it really never puts out a clean, base signal. No matter what you set the bass/mid/treble levels to, it always is applying a proprietary EQ curve to the sound. It messes with the curve as you increase volume in Boston equipped cars. Non-Boston cars are even worse as the head unit really messes with the curve.
