I just bumped my key with my knee and shut the car off...while reaching for my wallet stopped in a drive through lol. I see no way how this could happen while driving

you guys see this recall? For the ignition

http://money.cnn.com/2014/06/13/autos/gm-camaro-recall/

Apparently the car can stop running while driving. It caused 13 deaths in the Chevy Cobalt...

"similar but not identical" issue.

I'm not even going to get the new key, especially if they're making us surrender the old ones. I had the same keyfob design in previous Chevy's and like it. It's also very difficult to actually cause the key to move in the manner described, so it's really just more of a reactionary measure from GM.

Exclamation Why not retrofit keyless ignition?

I don't understand why a recall has to downgrade the quality or exclusivity of the Camaro. Why not retrofit them with the keyless entry system that is in the Corvette. That would be sure to make everyone happy and add value to the car instead of devaluing it.

here is how far my knee is away from the fob. I am 6'1" about 200lbs. I have MORE than enough room to not hit it. If you drive that close to the wheel, you're asking to die anyway

Not everyone gets to jump on the internet at work or at home all the time like me. Maybe someone should sticky the recall notice up top so no one else does this to each other when another post comes about.

Sorry guys I check this site once a day and didn't notice it. I just have been going through the other thread and saw what the deal is with the knee hitting the key. I thought it was an internal ignition problem. Yeah I don't come close to hitting the key with my knee.

What is more interesting is the same day Toyota recalled 844,000 vehicles because the driver's airbag can shoot metal and plastic schrapnel into your face at the speed of sound.

Not as much lawsuit potential though, hence no press.
