Kooks Long Tube Headers

Installed Kooks long tube headers with a SCT tuner. Getting check engine lite on with codes 1133 & 1153. Does anyone know the cause or fix for this?

I would be guessing that your 02 sensors were never tuned out, but I am not positive. Im sure someone else with more expertise can chime in.

This shows up from time to time with headers for some reason. Normally you would not turn these two codes off when tuning. That said, when they show up..it is the most common fix. I have seen customers where the car runs fine, but this code keeps popping up even after new O2 sensors and extensions. Only fix they could find was turn the code off in the computer.

Also, this code seems to pop up most with the change of seasons..like when temps are not cold, and not hot.

Is it a generic SCT tuner or did you get a header tune included with it from a vendor?

If you just bought a SCT tuner and install the Camaro tune, you will never completely get rid of the CEL. It will always come back. You'll need to have a shop send you a email tune that will optimize the headers and turn off the rear O2 sensors. None of the handhelds have the ability to turn them off, from the factory.
