If you're not in a rush, start right out from second gear.

I'm guessing your car wasn't up to optimal running temp yet?
When my car is cold I see the RPM needle drop so much faster than when it's warmed up. That's usually when I have to let off the clutch quicker than normal. I also tend to pretty much let the clutch return on its own. I don't take my foot off the clutch I just let the clutch spring push my foot off the pedal. That seems to help smooth the shift out pretty well. I'm guessing if you just take your foot off the spring snaps back and causes that jerk you're talking about. It takes practice and this car still catches me sometimes. I just shrug it off. Can't shift perfect all the time.

I always give my car a little extra revs when shifting, this eliminates any issues with stalling. Been doing this in all of my standard cars, and have never had a problem with clutches.

If I am real careful I can make the 1-2 shift smooth as silk. Otherwise - not so much. Even after 16 months of ownership. I had a '93 Probe too and after 18 years it had more play in the shifter than the whole Camaro shift pattern, but it always shifted smooth. I will say it gets better after it breaks in a bit.

Let the clutch out a little slower. It'll smooth out.

Shifting when cold is when I really feel it too. After the engine and trans warm up then is generally smooth. I usually shift early out of first which seems to help lots and eliminates the stupid skipshift issue.

So easy to love Camaros

I've got the Hurst and it's the same. Must be the Tremmec and I installed the SkipShift eliminator as quickly as I could because that would just mess me up. Everyone is correct though, that it will take time. It's been 2 months and while I've never "Conked", every now and then I grind 2nd when not paying attention. I too am a long time stick driver and have my CDL so 10-12 shifts is not uncommon in a big rig. The other day I jumped into my son's 3rd gen 5 speed and it felt so weird.
Patients and your find your happy place.
