Trunk sound deadening amount
I am only interested in doing my trunk at this time in all the areas I can readily get to. For those of you who have done this, how much square footage of sound deadener do I need?

I did mine with Dynamat Extreme. You will need 40-50 square feet.

I use Smittys in my 3rd gen, you can find its popular with the Vette guys as it doens't add allot of weight.
I got an old post about the differnet ones here, before I decided what to buy. You can find em on ebay with lots of good feedback about its quality. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38112 |

a local shop quoted me over the phone, $750-800, for trunk+doors+floor using dynamat xtreme. Sound reasonable?

If you got the spare change and weight is not an issue for you, go for it
The stuff is not cheap, and per the dirdction the 1in over lap of the 10x10in squares doens't go very far and gets lumpy quick under the floor. Id make em butt joint them on the floor and use aluminum tape on the seams to keep dirt out. Probably a $1000 even when your done depending on their quoting system. |

thats a rip off. i bought 100 sq ft of FatMat for $130 and did the whole interior of the car exluding the truck. fatmat is cheaper than dynamat and is the same

I would go with Hushmat you dont need to wall paper it like you need to do with dynamat so like the $100 kit would do it all. I love the stuff and put it on every car that I own. I do it all over the car just for the fact that it deadens road noise so much and keeps the heat out of the car in the summer.
to do an entire car we charge with product and installation about $600 - 800 |

Ok so I was reading on fatmat’s
Site that it also helps keep the heat is this vehicle generated heat or would it also help for some one whom lives in Arizona with heat from the sun? also did you install it in the whole car or just the trunk? did it add much weight to you car and do you feel it is worth it to do the whole car? ie the floor in the cab and the door in the cab. |

Find the review sites, see what happens when the heavy thick tar/rubber ones like dyna n fat, do when they heat up.
Think of them Nazi faces at the end of Indy Jones |
