Isnt the camaro performance being false advertised?
Probably over 8 months ago, I would all the reviews on the camaro and read what Al Oppenheiser would say about the car... and it was advertised that the SS will pull a 0-60 of 4.6 seconds and a 1/4 mile at 13.1 seconds (for the automatic) ... and similar for the manual...
now that many average folk have the SS, the numbers just dont match up... the average person with an SS (including me) is getting a 0-60 time between 5 seconds and 5.5 seconds... and a quarter mile on the high-end 13s... also, many people who have got their car dynoed are reporting RWHP of only aroudn 360-375 ... not even close to 400 or 426.... im no genius, but that seems like false advertising to me, and thats defiantly a disapointment

I think the hp numbers were crank not rwhp. As far as 0-60 times, I think if your running on a controlled track your times will be lower then street numbers. Mag reports are always higher then real life numbers, goes for any car.

i assumed they would be less as they test the cars under 100% optimum conditions.. but if optimum is 4.6 seconds for my l99, i would hope to get atleast a constant 5 seconds or so.... in reality ive been getting an average of like 5.4 seconds... my best is 5.17 that i got once

the HP rating is not at the rear wheels the advertised is at the crank..and have you timed your car in controlled conditions and was it set for optimum performance? also there is more to it than just pressing the peddle..not trying to be rude at all so please dont take it that way.

The HP Ratings that new cars get from the factory is ALWAYS at at the crank. They measure the HP of the Engine, not the HP at the wheels.

Yes, the true crank HP is higher than what's publicized

You should probably read up on the proper break-in procedures for a motor. It will make a huge difference in the performance of your car. Read it here:
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39955 Then after it is properly broken in, take it to the track a few times and get GOOD at launching your car. Take time to learn how to shift very fast and you'll be nipping at 12's with some good air. |

Here is where you went wrong OP you are average...no offense but the numbers are from "not " average people...you will be slower...That said practice is a good thing and learning your car will improve times...I can actually pull a sub claimed time in my solstice now and it is all due to just knowing sweet shift points!

Don't forget the weather in our area isn't optimal either ..... It's still in the 90's with 85% humidity ......Wait until late January and February before making judgments ....

and i do it with 1/4 tank or less... and how do i launch? umm from dead stop, i let it roll a few inches first (usually they test it with 1 foot of roll out) and then i just floor it in S mode ... my best time was with traction control OFF yea thats what i figured, the humidity here is still in teh 70+ range which is probably taking off .3 to .5 seconds i would guess
