GTOs have big problems with the hydraulic cutch slave, master clinder, etc. I couldn't even spin the tires from a stop in mine because it would slip so badly. This started at 9000 miles.
I replaced every part and put a ls7 clutch in. When we pulled my old clutch out it was fine. Now it is perfect and can spin 2nd gear for 15 feet. |

So if putting a blown fuse in does the trick, why not just leave the fuse out?
I don't mean to thread-jack, but I wonder of there is a similar trick to disable the hill-assist? |

When you leave the fuse out it indeed disables the skip-shift, but it also causes a check engine light. The smart fuse, when blown, still lets through a very low amount of current (for the LED bulb of the fuse). It is not enough to run the solenoid, but enough to fool the car that the system is working.

Ah. That makes sense.... do you know for sure that Camaros have the same solenoid fuse?

I have the standard SS but I find the transmission is notchy if the revs drop too much between shifts. I have seen this on other cars too.
It became more obvious after I pulled the fuse on the NPP and found that the engine revs slightly freer between shifts during typical driving. I expect the notchiness to return when the AC is run more often. |

Does the 1LE have the same transmission as the non 1LE SS?

Technically it is the same TR6060 transmission, it just has a different gear set and shifter which is the MM6 close gear ratios that the Z06 has. Not sure if they made any other small changes.

These low quality transmissions are used far too often at GM, high effort, grinding, notchyness, gear rattle. This is one thing I absolutely can't stand. To make matters worse, they source these things to be built in some third world country. Of course, they're no good.
Sorry for the rant, but I've had far too many of these junk GM manual transmissions. I think the last decent one I had was a Muncie M21 in a '73 Z-28. Effort was a little high when cold (to be expected with 90 weight oil), but it never ground, never gave me a bit of trouble, no weird noises, low effort when warmed up, and shifted the same at 130,000 miles as it did when new. A good start before trading car could be a fluid flush...and then bleeding the clutch...
Stock MC arent known for their top quality. I would invest in a Tick master...

It still is a bummer and understand the frustrations. It seems totally hit & miss. My 12' 45th SS was a little notchy but typically only when cold. Not a huge deal.
In 03' I bought a new Mach 1 and that had the same issues but got worse as many of the 03'-04' Mach 1s did at that time. Ford was rebuilding and replacing them as they crapped out. After buying mine from Koons in Va I moved to the UK and pushed to have it replaced under warranty. It took several months but they did ship a transmission to a local deal in the north where I was living, I supplied the fluids and after all that it really wasn't any better. Frustrating, yes but it's a matter of cheap parts spec'd out at the minimum to do the job. Tremec can supply a good tranny if they are spec'd out correctly. Once our 1LE arrives I guess we'll find out how ours is. I'm confident it'll be fine but if not my dealer will take care of us. It's a mechanical part, it can and will fail at some point.
