Today my daughter got up and had what appeared to be bird crap on the roof of her car. She used some spray on wax as a lubricant and got it off, however it left a faded looking spot where it had been. I've tried using detailer and wax on it, however with no luck. Doe anyone have any suggestions?

Have you tried using a clay bar?

Get some polish or rubbing compound from your local auto store. then go to town. After a few coats of that and buffing. Grab some wax and apply. Always works for me.

bird crap eats away at your clear coat, a good wax helps preventing it from doing a lot of damage. for now try a nice polish and buff the clear coat by hand. and this should be in the detailing cosmetic maintenance section

The paint is a big issue with these cars. I've had the same problem with bird poop, where it leaves an etched area in the paint. Polishing it might help. My spots on my car seem to have faded over time as well.

I've had the same prob with bug guts and it fades slowly over time. Kinda like ghost stripes after taking the stripes off a couple years later. It will all blend eventually.

A couple cycles of fine polish on a medium cut pad by hand will get it out, and then use that same fine polish with a machine on a finishing pad to restore clarity and remove any minor scratches or swirls caused by the hand polishing.

Don't let it "fade" - it won't. The uric acid in the excrement has literally altered the texture and surface composition of the affected clearcoat.

Fact of the matter is, some bird crap isn't as bad as others. I've found that the more "white" and thick it is, the less severe. If it's more dark in color and a lot thinner in consistency, then it's more likely to etch the clear.
