Actually I think they are kind of cute. I saw one in person at the Main Street Event in Houston and it was impressive looking. My daughter is going to be moving to Boston for college next year and I think her 1995 Ford F250 8 Foot bed 4 door pickup might not fit up there. I think I might get her now of these as a HS grad present.

Who knows what the future holds but imho at least Chevy is now forward thinking to the future and not having to play catch up after its too late like in the past.Imho there were not many who originally thought the CRUZE would do as well as it has here(raises hand) Never thought I would be ever drving one except maybe as a rental. We now own two.(ECO and LTZ) Very Smooth and Quiet Completely 180 from our SS LOL Great cars and hope this latest addition succeeds for where it is targeted.

I found out the Leaf (which like most Nissan's today, is sinful ugly), has been outselling the Volt 2:1. Think that's because of the Volt's limited availability or the cost?

Limited availability... As of now its only being released in a few markets.

The are other reasons as well..... Im sure Fen will chime in and let us know more!

IMO the Volt is like saying lets just do away with the V8 and go with all V6 sports cars. Nothing by all means wrong with that in a lot of peoples eyes but many americans are not Reeady for that move just like buying an electric car seems to futurisitic for many.

When fuel hits $7 a Gal Volts and Etc will appeal to more.

Nationwide rollout will be soon. Should see sales go up once that's all said and done. Plus the 2013 model is rumored to add a bit of EV range along with some other updates.

Not really, the Volt is actually serving as a more practical stepping stone from conventional ICE-powered cars to full EVs. If you can get to work and back on the Volt's battery, you'll never use gas, but if you need to go further, you have that option too, something that you constantly have to be worried about with a full EV that takes hours to recharge a battery.

The Leaf and the Spark EV are really only good for use in cities. Anything more and you'll have to start doing math and guesstimates.

When the Cobalt dies....I'd get one!!

It'd balance out my garage, so I can live guilt-free...ZL1 + Spark = Malibu Hybrid.

Couple that with instant peak torque at launch and this could actually be kinda fun to drive.

Good for GM. Wonder what pricing will be? I looked at a Sonic hatch the other day, neat looking car, but 17k? you can get a base Cruze for that. And I agree with the poster who has 2 of em - great cars. I traded in my Cruze on the Camaro, and while Ill never make the mistake of getting rid of my Camaro a 2nd time (duh!), I do miss that little 4 door compact car. There, I said it.

The Spark needs to be in the 12-14k range.

It's $17k for an LTZ model. Cruze LS is cheaper but doesn't have a lot of the features of the Sonic LTZ.

A comperable Cruze would probably be at least $20k. The Sonic starts at less than $15k
