Very true never thought it was just people that have no idea of what goes in a car and just know the classic SS Camaro name.

Are you trying to get the thread locked? I would also think you would have a couple good write ups on going from v6 to v8 to share. |

1- The only way a V6 gets to 350hp is with FI. Nothing bad said there, just a simple question. 2- Most say you cannot even tell the difference between models, so I am trying to understand this. Again nothing bad said. 3- Insinuating that my mother is faster then a V6 is probably not the best selling factor. My mother was quite slow in her old age. 4- The truth hurts. You know at the end of the day it is your car. Love it and enjoy it. Never mind about all the haters. they probably drive a POS anyway. When this happens to me I just turn around and walk away. I don't even dignify there questions with a response.

To the OP, people dont understand owning a car that is less than their dream car. For this case the new Camaro.
For me I would inform them that the .20 cents difference in fuel isnt that big of a diffence for me. Next Automatic, I served my country and during my service I destroyed my left knee. As far as performance goes this is not the old six's of years gone by. I think it depends on how fast you want to get a ticket. V6 or V8 will get you a ticket... You will find those same people here on C5. Just walk away from answering because those that ask have no idea about what you can afford or your life situation. (yes that is why they ask, although most the time it isnt because they care) |

Be the better Man or Woman. Smile then move on. It might take some time of getting used to it but it is what it is.

I am 100% sure that you guys get tired of hearing it. I did not have a cool car for 30 years. Got married in 1979 and sold my 71 Nova. So, last year when I bought my Camaro, I wanted the biggest engine I could get.
I respect all of you guys. In my Camaro Club, 5th Generation Camaros of the Carolinas, we probably have more V6s than V8s and most of them are really modded up. All that to say, with no malice at all, that I did not understand it either. When I attended the first meeting and saw so many V6s I was really surprised. And some are really modded like crazy so I assume they could afford the bigger engine. I did not think less of the owners, I just did not understand. Of course, I would never ask anyone. What you buy is your business. My buddy has a 69 Firebird with a straight 6 and it is bad to the bone. I am sure you can tell when someone is being a prick but I think a lot of people are just curious. |

I'd like to know also....WHY T F did you get a V6???? J/K.....Our V6s are the 1970s/1990s V8s and kick the c**p outta the 1980 V8s. So they aren't exactly on a level with the Honda Civic or Hyundai Alantra.

My answers would be:
Why did I buy a 6? Because I wanted something with good HP and good mpg. 312 stock HP is more than enough for me. I don't race anymore and have no urge to do that so why buy a V8 when you can get better gas mileage and the same great looks? I bought the auto because I wanted the remote start, and my last car I had for 8 years was a 5 speed manual and I got tired of shifting in stop/go traffic, simple as that. I bought a convertible because it's sexy as hell and I get lots of attention with it..
