2014 Backup camera grid lines

Sorry to beat the dead horse, but I have been reading through old threads on this issue and see that 2014 Camaros (like my 2SS) did not have rear view camera grid lines but 2015+ do.

Is the definitive answer that this cannot be added to the system? Either by software updates, or swapping the HU or camera with a 2015 model? I would like to keep things stock as possible.

Obviously the lines are not essential, but I do not think many can argue that they are not helpful to have.

advice please!

Hot topic I see lol.

From what I have been reading, some people are saying the lines come from the camera itself? If I add the 2015 camera to my 2014 would that do it?

Would adding the 2015 HU do it? What will it take??

In 2015 its an option. Not in 2014.. which sucks. I am finding out its not as simple as swapping parts like the camera or head unit. And was told by a parts guy you cant put a 2015 HU in a 2014 because it controls other stuff that would stop working.. Doesn't look like there is a software upgrade I could install on my 2014 either...

Kinda SOL on this one. sucks bigtime, those lines help when backing into tight spots

The lines could be either. They certainly can be in the camera because mine are. The active lines are in the radio software. So yes you certainly could just switch your camera out if you buy a camera with gridlines.

There are plenty of cameras on Amazon that have integrated grid lines. A camera swap should be pretty easy (would require cutting and splicing of cable though).
