ZL1 Under hood ?

I noticed in a few shots of the ZL1 show car the under hood paint was as good as the exterior I.E. the strut towers and such looked to be clear coated. Was this done for the show car only, or will this be on the production cars as well?

I don't believe the engine bay will be clearcoated, unlike door jambs and the rest of the exterior panels. I think it's just the base coat and since those cars are pretty new, they just haven't gotten much exposure to the elements. I doubt they're going to add the extra expense from clearcoating under the hood

Scott said at Fredrick that all Camaros have had the underhood cleared since December 2010.

I think this is actually true. I wish mine was cleared it makes it a lot easier to clean.

Correct, my 2011 has the engine bay clearcoated. Looks MUCH nicer than my 2010 coupe does. I also noticed the floorpan on the inside was clearcoated looking too, when I was messing with the shifter.

I also suspect they may not toss a hood blanket in the ZL1....just a gut-feeling. So the underside of the hood would benefit from a clear-coat in this case...
