V8 guy's correct me if I am wrong, but the 1SS, 2SS, And 2SS/RS requires 93 octane fuel
The V6 only excepts the lower grades of fuel

This is the thread discussing the issue. The V8 needs premium gas, the manual says recommended, but use nothing lower. You will get a knocking sound and will trash your performance.

93 octane only, unless you can only get 91. And the fuse pull should only be done if a lower octane of gas is put in.

Fuse pull is for the L99. The "fix" for the LS3 is a battery disconnect.

I have seen a lot of threads on this (ehem, search function is golden)... but none have posted real actual numbers that show any significant improvement. No one that I've read on here actually tested it with a controlled environment. I'd really like to see that, and see if this does in fact make any difference.

I wouldnt say "only accepts the lower grades of fuel".. Perhaps a typo? It will take lower octane without any damage (unlike the SS).. However I have always and only put premium in my V6.

It won't knock. You'll be on the low fuel table before you hear knocking.

Depends on what you consider controled. 150 plus timed runs with a 6.2 second 0-60 and a best of 5.9, original fuse pull, first run 5.1, second run 4.9 and averaged 5.2 ever since. Videoed it and used accelerometer.

You just read it wrong...
What was meant was...

The V6 only... (only the V6)
accepts the lower grades of fuel.

No I wouldn't call that controlled. I'd like to see four or more gas fills (2 of each or more I could care less), with both the lower unleaded and then the premium blend. Let the tanks run dry and then fill up and go again. Note the mileage obtained (MPG) and run a controlled drag run and compare.

Then I'd like to see the results of the MPG and if there's any significant difference. The problem is some people say they get better times, or feel a performance difference but of course we get better over time and the vehicle smooths out.

something about that doesn't sound right.... if it were that simple then someone could test the fuel from either and expose the fraud.... why isn't that happening?
