Maybe your lost about the 1LE package and what it is designed for. You do know that the 1LE package is for a road course it isn't about a straight line. Take a stock Shaker dodge and a stock 1LE and put them on a road course say Willows and see who wins.

As you mentioned no one stays stock !!

What applies for engine modification applies for suspension too. Dodge has been very active in developing performance packages and their prices are very attractive too. Just have a look at their Challenger Line up and you will be suprised by the number of models they offer.

I havent heard about the tests of R/T upgrades but I heard that their standard suspension is awful. Thats why many people go for the SRT8 instead.

unlikely the feds would allow a foreign car company to buy a domestic one.

Before I bought my Challenger SRT8 I looked at the Mustang GT 5.0 & Camaro SS/RS. All were new & the Challenger was the cheapest. 2 months later I bought a new Mustang GT then 18 months later bought a Camaro SS/RS.

Of the 3 the Mustang drives the heaviest, The Camaro handles the best but the Challenger is very close & the Challenger has the nicest interior & is the fastest of the 3.

The 1LE has nothing to worry about here. Apperence upgrades with half ass performance mods aren't going to cut it. I love the challenger for the look, but I wish dodge would wake up when it comes to real performance.

Sadly, I'd have to agree with this. The Shaker Package is just an appearance package - nothing more nothing less.

The Scat Packs are focused on drag racing (notice no suspension upgrades with Scat 1, 2 and 3) but majority of the mods that each Scat Pack offers majority of the R/T owners have already done.

Both the Shaker and Scat Packages include engine and suspension upgrades. The shaker system comes standard with the "Super Track Pack" option and the scat packs come with upgraded sway bars, coils, and steering among other things. So these upgrades for the challenger R/T are not only engine but suspension as well. However I would not even compare them to the improved performance gained from the 1le package on the camaro ss.

The Camaro is too big and heavy and the Challenger is way too big and heavy. I like them both but looking forward to the next gen of all three pony cars. I don't think the new mid range Challenger will make many Camaro owners jump ship. But is a nice alternative for a Challenger buyer.

But with a few decent mods, etc, I'm sure the R/T would wake up nicely. Now what they "should" do is loose serious weight, get IRS, and a bit more power for the R/T and then they'd have a car there. The SRT8 gets around the power issue fine but is no competition on the road course due to the latter.
Challanger has been IRS since they came out, ford was the only one running the solid boat anchor till the upcoming 15's
